ProData DBU RDi for IBM i9

Connection to the DBU RDi Server failed.

Looks like the DBU RDi Server is not running, or the IP address is still incorrect.

Try the following, in order, to solve the issue:

  1. Restart DBU RDi Server
    • IBM iSeries Installation
      • From the machine on which DBU RDi Server is installed, run the following command: DBURDIRST
      • Wait a few moments after the server has restarted and try to open the file again.
    • Microsoft Windows Installation
      • From the machine on which DBU RDi Server is installed, go to Start > All Programs > ProData DBU RDi Server > Restart DBU RDi Server
      • Wait a few moments after the server has restarted and try to open the file again.
  2. Ensure the DBU RDi Server name/IP is correct, currently:
    • If the server name/IP is correct:
      • Ensure that TCP port 8205 is open and unused.
      • If access to port 8205 is unavailable, you must specify a new port number. To do so:
        1. Launch DBU RDi
        2. A prompt will appear stating, "Could not connect to DBU RDi server". When asked if your server details are correct, click No.
        3. At this point another promp will appear where you can specify the sever name/IP and a new port number.
        4. Changing the port on which DBU RDi server runs also requires changes to a server config file. Please contact ProData Tech Support for details: 800.228.6318
    • When you have the correct name/IP and access to port 8205 (or a custom-configured port number), close this tab and try opening another object - you will be prompted to update the server details again if necessary.

If you continue to experience issues, please visit the DBU RDi resource site or contact ProData Technical Support.
